What action should you take if you smell gas?

Natural Gas is actually odourless and a repugnant smell is added to the gas to give a early warning sign, as is highly explosive, in the event of smelling Gas you should open all windows and doors, then isolate your gas supply at the gas metre and then immediately phone the Gas emergency services Cadent 0800 111 999.

Action to take in the event of a water leak

Isolate water supply by turning stop tap off usually located under the sink, but can vary from property to property, if you cannot isolate water then open up all taps in property to reduce flow of water on area where leak is , then contact emergency plumber to help with the situation.

Action to be taken in event where pipework is banging or creating excessive noise.

This is called water hammer and can be caused by pipe work not being clipped, or more common cause is water outlet e.g tap not shutting water off completely causing vibration in pipe work, this can be reduced by closing the flow of water down from your stop, which is usually located underneath the sink.
